Anybody know how one could rig a driveway alert (motion sensed)and have the alert transmitted to your smartphone and set off the alarm on the phone?
I have a long private road up to my property and would like some notice when vehicle starts up the road. I'm not inside much to hear an alarm at the receiver so I would like to be notified while I'm out working on the property.
Thanks

I would think you will need a lot more than an Android App. You need electrical power to send a wireless or wired signal to an alert system in your home.
Don't know how far it is but you could run an underground or above ground pair of wires to the gate and the power and horn/light in your home to acomplish.

use the over temp alarm signal device, that some rv members use to monitor the rv for their pets when away
if power goes off or preset temps are exceeded it triggers the alarm
it can be set to work with a land line phone or a cell phone in the rv
either way the number dialed will be your cell number
some one will post the name and the web links
i think that will do what you want
just connect it to be triggered by the alarm instead of a thermostat
when the drive way alarm is triggered your cell will be called
by what ever phone you have the device connected to
Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother

I have an IR activated phone dialer. Get a phone line to it and water-proof house it, it would work.

The question is not can it be done, the question should be how much are you willing to pay for it?

The way I would go about this is project .........
I would use a webcam that has an email alert feature such as the Foscam cameras.......set up the camera with a new email account......then set up your Android phone so that when someone trips the camera and a still picture is taken a new and unique or custom alert tone on your phone is played......
That way you would be audibly alerted and you would have a picture stored on the phone of who or what it is that is walking up your driveway.......
You might be able to do this wirelessly or...you might need to run a cat 5 wire to where you want the camera located.....
Total cost..........about $100

Look at Chamberlin Reporter. Battery powered wireless motion detector and transmitter at entrance. 110VAC receiver with buzzer in house. Receiver has relay contacts so you could add choice of outdoor noisemakers and or flashing lights. Ours working 5 years at 300 plus feet. Connected to a temp monitoring system it would give you cell notification. Under $100.
