Hello,
On 12v flouresent lights do you have to buy special to 12v bulbs?
I bought some a home depot but they don't work. Thanks

Nope. Any bulb will work. I buy mine at Walmart and they work fine.

Rockintom brings up a good point. On the other hand any 12V should work OK. Take a moment and find the label and model just to be sure. Could be a transformer problem.

Check the voltage in your battery. If it is below 11.7 or there abouts, the 12 V flourecents will not work. Try a fully charged battery before you give up and also make sure you have voltage at the light itself. I have one flouresent light that has a switch on it just like all the others, but it also has a wall switch. If the wall switch is OFF, the switch on the light will not work. does this light perhaps have another switch somewhere? Just a thought. And yes the bulbs you buy from Home depot or Lowes should work. That is where I bought mine.

Actually the flourscent works on the 12V system, but the ballast converts it to 24V. As long as the wattage and length of the tubes are the same, you'll be good.
One thing to remember with flourescent lights in an RV....since the 12V gets converted to 24V....it is rough on both the ballast and bulbs if the batt(s) run low on voltage. Always something to remember when boondocking or anytime without shore power. Are you sure you haven't done that and wiped a ballast out? rockin'

That is where my wall switch is also, by the entry door so you can turn the light on when you enter. Now if you turned it on by the door when you came in, but turned it off at the light, It won't work again from the door switch when you enter again. Give it a look.
