I also have it and it's no fun. it affects the circulation, starts in the feet and works it's way up the legs and is irreversible..

Mine is not yet diabetic....its from rheumatoid arthritis and the nodules between tendons, etc. I've been on Plaquenil for a few months and the infammation has decreased enough to walk a bit with less pain. Some nights require pain meds to sleep, but am doing better. Ibuprofen during the day.

No I get around fairly well, but I can see down the road it could become a problem.. just need to watch sugars, carbs, etc. and excercise as much as possible ...

I also have it due to Agent Orange. Thank God for the VA! Alpha Lopoic Acid didn't help, just upset my stomach, but that's just me, maybe. And it sort of went against my Primary Care adviser. Up set my Diabetes control, so I quite and am on prescribed meds for it also. JMHO!
Camping in a Sportsmobile. How much better can it get?

Dog Trainer, I also am a carb counter. Good thing I liked math in school, it really helps. I'm on a pump and got the socks and shoes from the VA. Best of luck and much success on your BG control. It can be a job.

Also have some mild neuropothy but I still have most of the feeling in my feet. I am also Vietnam Vet with Diabetes. The VA gave me six pair of the special socks that come up to almost the kne. I wear them alot and always put a pair on when sitting and driving much of the day. Trying to keep good blood sugar control by counting carbs and dosing accordingly at meals

VA fitted me for my custom made insoles. Not perfect, but they really help a lot.
