Yaeh thinking about building a pad with water and elec down by the garden. Put in a nice fire pit, park the tt right there and don't use any gas.
Remember when oil and corn were supposed to be about the same price?
Hows that working??

Oil company exec s are reading this site!!
Called a general meeting.
Sat down together and said...
These guys are all expecting gas to go to $5.00 a gallon.
Any reason that we shouldn't fulfil their expectations?

We usually just do one long trip per year and the other trips are all less than 150 miles away. This year we are planning to go back to our favorite area which is Silverton/Ouray Colorado. This is about 2,000 miles roundtrip for us. I budget 8 mpg at $4.00 per gallon. On this trip if fuel goes up to $4.50 that adds $130 to the trip. At $5.00 per gallon that adds $260. Will $260 keep us from going? No, that is a pretty small number compared to the total cost of the trip and what we have invested is our rig. We love RV travel, we don't do it to save money. Life is short, go have fun while you can.

THANK YOU!

I don't think so. Only 516 people out of a few billion have read this post by the time of my reply.

Its NOT the oil execs....its the TRADERS...learn how the industry works works. As long as it is traded speculators will keep the price high. The margins for the producers, distributors and retailers has stayed the same....its the ones buying and selling the futures causing the rise

Our Springtime RV show was this weekend, and I was amazed at how many RV's of all sorts I saw being sold. I could hardly believe how many of the high dollar machines I saw sold, we're talking diesel pushers at way over 300k. Somehow, I can't imagine those people are going to let a couple extra bucks a gallon for fuel get in their way.

Also worth noting, the RV show schedule had some trend data in it showing 2010 campground reservations were up in 2010 by 9 percent, and RV rentals were up by 15 percent despite gas prices being pretty high last summer.

My own guess is that diesel will be somewhere between $5.00 and $6.00 a gallon this summer, which will be a bummer, but I don't expect I'll change much as far as my travels. I may end up hiking or just sitting around the lake or campfire a little more rather than exploring in the truck, but other than that, I plan to get out as much as my work schedule allows.

If you are refering to the pipeline, it could be built to end in: Montana, N. Dakota, or Minnesota, and use refineries built there. No need to send it all the way down to Texas so they can have a monopoly there and screw us.

I suspect a more reasonable version will end up being okayed for being built. None of this has anything to do with the current situation. Blame the trader's since they deserve it. Also; I don't remember hearing anything about the oil companies using their profits to upgrade the pipeline on the north-slope.

Remember the stoppage of oil flow last year or so to repair sections of the liner?

$4 to $5/gal. will TANK the u.s. economy.....

i'm sure there are many who will refuse to 'staycation' despite the price, which is fine, but make no mistake, if we go to a price spike a la 2008, the double dip recession will take hold of an already fragile 'recovery'

the problem is the federal reserve's money 'printing' policy....they print, $$$ chase 'real assets' and the dollars chase commodities, the U$D continues it's weakness, and OIL which is traded in us dollars, rises....

all this DESPITE weakening demand....

once you debase your currency in an effort to monetize the debt, the average 'joe' is thoroughly screwed....

but hey, enjoy the scenery!
