I am looking to purchase a new 2012 Surveyor Select Travel Trailer. Can not find any reviews of this trailor. Are there any negitives or problems I should be concerned with purchasing a Forest River? Thanks

I have a 2012 Surveyor Sport 295. The Select versions have a few upgrades over the Sport versions, but I chose my unit because it was lighter and it has an outdoor kitchen. I am very happy with it. Other than the radio (previously a Concertone, or as many would say, "Concertjunk"), I have had no problems. When the radio broke down, I called Forest River and they immediately shipped me a new Jensen unit as a replacement, totally cost-free for me. I had heard that Forest River's customer service for warranty issues leaves a lot to be desired, but my experience was very positive.

BTW, before the Surveyor, I owned a Forest River Wildwood. The quality in the Surveyor is significantly better. Good luck.

I traded it in after six years. As is probably the case with most TT's, little things would break from time to time. Toward the end, I had a problem with a leaking roof. Coincidentally, on the drive to trade in the old TT, I had an accident and crashed the back part of the trailer, which exposed some of the wood framing. It was mostly rotted. Luckily my insurance covered the damage. The Surveyor models have alumining framing, which will lessen the chance of any rot.

Suffice it to say that if we were happy with our FR Surveyor Sport, we wouldn't have traded it in at a $10k loss after just 5 months ... YMMV; others swear by their FR product.
