Live in SC and mildew/mold is everywhere. Have problems with it on my outside porch (wooden furniture, cloth cushions). Any advice on how best to deal with it? Don't want to discolor the cushions, obviously!

A mix of clorax bleach and water, 10% bleach, and spray it on. In Florida one could also hire companies to pressure wash / spray concrete surfaces.

According to my cousin who has a plumbing/airconditioning business, LYSOL is better to use than bleach. I've always used the bleach solution but he said bleach dries the mold out and that if exposed to moisture again can come back. He said the Lysol actually kills it. And Lysol won't "bleach out" fabric like bleach.

also try Oxiclean in a thin solution and brush it on let it set for a few minutes and rinse it off. You'll see it working as you apply it.

Go to America's Master Handyman, Glenn Haege's web site and check out what he has to say about the use of Concrobium Mold Control. It has many applications for eliminating mold.

I like to use the only ingredient contained in Oxi-Clean and dilute hydrogen peroxide with distilled water. For hard surfaces it's tough to beat dilute bleach in warm water.
