We're planning a trip that passes through Savannah GA. I understand parking in the downtown district (where we want to go) is a problem. Any ideas on where to park our class C (24 foot) motorhome while we're enjoying Southern hospitality for the day?
Thanks!

There are pay parking lots throughout the city. Whether or not they can accomodate your RV is another question. You may want to go to the chamber of commerce website and see what info you can get. Savannah is a really nice place to visit with plenty of good restaurants. Enjoy!!

The Savannah Visitor's Center may allow RV parking in their parking lot. I would call first to be sure.

We were just there a couple of months ago. We stayed at Skidaway Island State Park and took our Jeep into town. There was no parking for our Jeep on a Sunday Morning. Most all the spots are meter pay, and not large enough for a small coach. Area is a lot smaller than most tourist attractions to minuever.

Bugs is right. If they allow RV parking at the visitor's center you would want to get off of I-16 and go down MLK Jr Blvd to the center. I wouldn't recommend trying to drive through the downtown area around the squares. Another word of warning - The week of St. Patrick's Day is usually very crowded everywhere in Savannah.

We parked our RV at the Savannah Visitors Center - no problem. We walked from there to River Street.

There are many tour operators in Savannah. We parked in the lot of a tour operator, took a bus tour, and then walked all day.
Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

As other have said the visitor center has parking. There are some spaces marked for RVs at the far end of the lot. They're not any larger than normal spaces but you'll fit. The first hour is free - $1.00 an hour after that.

The less vehicle you take to Savannah, the happier you'll be.
