We were in some small places last year in our cross country but we did not meet any of this type but we seldom fueled in daylight hours and found very honest shops when we did needed service.

We did walk arounds and checked under the hood. I expect like most cons they know when to hold and when to go.

This sounds like the same guys from Needles California from the nineties on. To our amazement they tried the stun int 95 and were at it still in 2004.
In the Seventies and Eighties along I 75 in South Ga and Fla. Bothe Neetles and Ga were busted more than once.
In mid seventies I saw them trying to rip off an older couple for new fan belts and shocks, in South Georgia. I stepped in and ....
This was before cell phones. Tried to call Police and gave up after three or four attempts to get Sheriff to respond.

Hi There

1994 In Willams it was my bulge in the tire one guy was trying to distract me while the other one was checking the air pressure and oil. I had to ask with some force to get away from my car.

1994 East of Bryce Canyon, (can't remember the juction name) while getting fuel, there was a Caddy getting put on the lift for shocks I assumed that it was a scam but did not witness the whole thing.

2010 Scipio Utah getting a burger then fuel a guy from a tire shop checking out the MHs came over to tell me how bad my tires were and that they probibly needed air just come on over to the shop.

I think there may have been another incident but CRS is kicking in.

I used to work with, well lets just say, people that were not to trust worthy and honest, so I keep a sharp eye out and will move out if things don't look right. On the same note I have pulled into some pretty out of the way spots and meet some real folks out there on the back roads of AMERICA GOD BLESS HER.

Kingman,Az. Tire shop next to a gas station. Guy comes out and tells you you got a bad tire. I said "Yeah, I know" and drove all the way to Florida.

I am very familiar with both Wells and Ely but I am unaware of any "tire shops/garage" adjoining any of the fuel stations in either location.

There is a Les Schwaub tire store in Wells but it is down the street from the nearest fuel stop and I doubt if any of their employees are involved in such skullduggery. If it was them, a letter to their corporate office will cause heads to roll in Wells, NV.

Please be more specific as to actual location and businesses involved.

Maybe it was just an "honest" mistake.

Hi All.

Just remember, that "NO ONE", knows your RV better than you do. Also, you can't get ripped off, unless you lest yourself get ripped off. We are very lucky, as I do all of our "Own Work" and "Repairs" and "Mods" myself. Think I would have a few choice words for someone pulling that line on us. Might even warraant a call to the BBB. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
