I recently travelled to Yuma from up North via the Great Basin Hwy 93 south from Twin Falls, Idaho to Las Vegas. We stopped for gas a couple of times and at each station a man came running from the adjoining tire shop/garage telling me what a bad noise I have coming from the RV suspension and how I shouldn't proceed without some essential work from them. After much huffing and puffing and dire predictions, I thanked them very much and decided to take my chances. We had no problem for the rest of the journey and while there is a slight reservation at the back of my mind, I am pretty sure these were both con-jobs. One was in Wells, NV and the other in Ely, NV. Has anyone else run into such blatant money-grabbing situations? Maybe by highlighting this in this Forum, more RV'ers will be aware of such poor business practices (to be polite).

I have heard the same story just awhile ago, but I don't remember where it was.
We have traveled that same route many times and not had anybody do it, but maybe because times are tough, maybe they figure it is worth a shot.

I had a similar incident many years ago in Arizona. I was in my car, not an RV.
It's an old rip off scheme that's probably been around since the first car , or horse carriage, was built.

Wow! If two people are saying the same thing the odds of both being con men are astronomicle. Guess you checked it out yourself. I also have heard of this stuff. In fact if I remember right 60 minutes did a story on something similar using hiden camera's under a motor home. You were smart. Good for you. Wonder how many were not.

Same scam is quite common in Needles, CA, but I've not heard of it in either Ely or Wells. Perhaps the guys in Nevada are related.

Was a common ploy at several places in UT. They must have moved to NV....
