shum02 wrote: again the Champion Inverter - for $500 nothing can touch it price wise and you can parallel it(2 gensets) for less than the cost of a single Honda 2000i
Can you lead me to where exactly in Canada these gensets are on sale for that price?
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Honda EU3000isC2 (Current Canadian retail at $2399) BUT if I can get all this value and power for less then the cost of an EU2000 (Current Canadian Retail of $1299) then I'm all over it.
2 Champ inverters and a parallel kit are going to be more money, more noisy and way more heavy then an EU2000, but I'm a show me kind of guy, so show me.
Bet you a box of your favorite beverages you can't.
I personally have never heard a Champion run. However, a young friend of mine bought one to use in ALA after the hurricane down there knocked their power out for a week plus. I reccommended a Champion that fit his budget (newly weds). He told me that it was suprisingly quiet especially compared to others in the area that were bought for the same emergency.
I use Hondas if I don't run the onboard generator. I use them because I can run them without bothering anyone, especially me. I start it, go in the MH and I can not hear it running. That is worth the investment to me.

well, if you'd read the current huge thread on the Champion 2000w inverter generator, you'll see many posts that vow that it's just as quiet as the Honda 2000 and is cheaper and weighs about the same.
and if you had 2 Honda 2000's with a parallel kit, it'll weigh just about the same in the Champion version.
the Champion 2000w was selling at Canadian Sam's Club for under $500.
again, reading that thread will show you many who verified this.
in fact, it was sold in Canada way before it showed up in the American market.
by the way, i own a Honda 2000 and love it. but if i needed more power, i would seriously consider the 2 Champions over buying another Honda.

Thanks for the lesson, i'm gonna pass on the Chumpion's and gonna buy the LESS NOISEY EU3000isC2 like originally planned.
No fuss, no muss and no cables to deal with.
And for the record; it's close on the price thing Costco.ca has the 2000W Inverters for $529.00 CDN each and $94.99 for the parallel kit.
Neck in neck with (1)Honda EU2000i.

2 Chumps still going to be louder then 1 EU3000is
Eh...
Didn't you just say that the eu20001 was $1299 Canadian? If my math serves me right, 2 of the $529 units would be a total of $1058. Less price and twice the power?

from what you said above, you were comparing the Champions to the Honda 2000, not the 3000. the 3000 will be a little quieter but will weigh more than the dual generator setup, no matter which brand.
and the beauty of the 2 gennie setup, is that unless you need a/c, you only need to take the one 50lb. generator to run everything else.
only if a/c is needed, is it necessary to take two of them.
instead of hauling a 130lb. gennie just to recharge the battery or run the microwave.
how often would you need the a/c in Canada?
The Champion 2000 inverter generator is one I may consider....Even though it's a little more, it is relatively quiet and I could just about get 2 for the price of 1 honda....and as bikendan mentioned, I could take either one or both of them depicting what my needs would be.

Last year I was camping in a National Park that allows Gen's from 8 AM to 8 PM. A guy about 6 sites away had a 3500 Champion. He had two extra fuel tanks next to it. He would start it up about 8 am, get in his truck and leave. He would come back afternoon sometime. I would walk my dog around the camp and I would get a earful from people camped next to him. The Rangers would do nothing because they had no rule about noise level or leaving your Gen unattended. About Day four I saw him out there working on the Gen... I don't know if it just quit or if somebody got tired of listening to it. Champions don't have a Eco mode and in my opinion are considerably louder than a Honda 2000.
At 200 yards and you can still hear your Honda? I guess under the right conditions sound can really carry. When mines in Eco mode and about 20 feet from my rig I can't hear it inside the trailer and outside you can have a normal conversation right next to it...Buy the Honda You will make more friends! I would not be able to make it 200 yards!

This is not a reflection of the generator but the owner of it. I would feel the same way if it was a eco model - inconsiderate yahoo!
