Best post ever! Thanks for the photos and story. And, I envy your bravery for putting your GMC through the paces of rock crawling. I'd be too scared to break something and be stranded. Looks like alot of fun!

I don’t know what to say about the road going in with all the washouts.
You’re either the Macho Macho Man the Village People sang about or you’re ready for a white suit and a padded room. Hope the dings on the camper aren’t a big deal. Either way, nice job on negotiating the road. The trip and pictures were a lot of fun to look through and follow.

Man, this is the 1st instance of technical rock-crawling I've ever seen with a fairly large truck camper aboard a heavy-duty truck !
I would say "outstanding", however, I'll say, "out-crawling!" Unbelievable what the 2500HD GMC/Chevy can do with this extremely robust front-end IFS Now, I wanna see a Ford F250/F350 do that with a 2800+ LB camper on-board (is that a challenge? You bet! But you Ford guys better bring along some spare parts) 
.....now that star photo is great, and shows a satellite streaking across the top-center during the extended exposure. Well executed!
You just made my day(or better, my week). I thoroughly enjoyed the humor. Mrs Silverdunes is out shoveling the near foot of snow we got overnight, but she certainly will be reading through your expedition report when she comes in!
