Once or twice a week I check into www.Openroadsradio.net forum. I am now getting the message
“This Account Has Been Suspended”. What does this mean? I am suspended from the forum or the forum is suspended?

I just tried it and got the same message. I've never been to it before and don't have an account, so I would say the site has been suspended. They probably didn't pay their electric bill or rent.

Maybe there were not enough Ham radio people to keep it going.

Once they dropped their license requirements to almost zero I suspected that amateur radio would go the way of CB. Hard to generate enthusiasm in the hobby anymore. You have to have web site activity to generate revenue. Too bad it has been a great hobby.

Of course, with the internet, cell phones, etc. amateur isn't like it used to be years ago when we built our own rigs.

I haven't been active for almost 15 years.

Well.. As to building your own.. I built part of my station, and in the past have .. Well remember HEATHKIT... I do.

As to "haven't been active".. for me it's closer to 5 hours.

Hey, a URL for you folks, 9pm Tuesday if you have the bandwidth

http://www.twit.tv/hn

From there click on WATCH LIVE about 9pm Eastern time.

Another URL no live link: http://www.amateurlogic.tv

IT might interest you to know that Amateur Radio licenses are at an all time high, Never before have there been more licenes issued. (Source FCC).

Amateur radio is now part of a Prime Time TV show: Last Man Standing.

Mike Baxter (Played by series lead Tim Alan) is KA0XTT, This call was selected because a suffex beignning with "X" means eXpermental, and is thus never issued as a permenate license. TT Well T.A. used to play Tim Taylor on Home Improvement, so he is eX Tim Taylor.

Yes he will send you a QSL card if you send him one, QRZ has the address,

There is a soon to be released movie (Mysterious Island I think) which though not specifically mentioning Ham radio will have a good collection of ham gear on one of the sets. Including Kenwood and Icom.

Oh, the station in Mike Baxter's garage on Last Man.. Really works, It has been used to make legitimate contacts (under other calls).

Some URL's for you..

http://www.twit.tv/hn Epically on Tuesday at 9pm but there are over 30 episodes for download now.

http://www.amateurlogic.tv Likewise over 30 episodes for download.

If you watch Amateur logic you will hear a partical description of my station. Including the operating chair, which is kind of special.

(HINT, I sit on a model 111)

Now they just need to convince Tim to get a real license. Although Last Man Standing is one of my favorite programs on TV I'd be willing to bet that Tim doesn't know the first thing about Amateur Radio....
What's even more curioser are all the logged contacts on QRZ with KA0XTT...everything from 40 meters to 70cm....using virtually all modes...digital, SSB, AM, FM......
