Is there a way to adjust the temperature in the freezer and not the refrigerator, or the other way.

It's a Norcold N 611.

Not sure on that model but every one I've ever had only used one adjustment. The freezer gets cold first and the cold air migrates to the refrigerator side. Only adjustment I've ever found is in the fridge. Again, not sure on that particular model.

We have N811 and the setting controls fridge temp. Cooling actually happens more in the freezer, but the sensor looks at how much was conducted (those fins) back into the fridge.
Our freezer is colder when we open the fridge occasionally through the day. Doing that kicks the cooling unit on.

You actually ARE adjusting the freezer temperature when you adjust the temp control.

The fridge doesn't cool; the freezer does. Cold air migrates from the freezer down to the fridge through the cooling fins at the rear of your fridge box. A thermistor is mounted on one of the fins which tells the fridge to turn on or off depending upon when a certain fin temperature is reached in the fridge.

You can make minor adjustments based on where the thermistor is located on the fin and which fin it is installed on inside fridge section

Sliding thermistor up on fin will make unit cycle longer so fridge section can get colder (freezer also). Moving it down will cause the fridge section to be warmer.

Leaving fridge door open ('shelf surfing') and/or frequent opening of it will cause a warm fridge section and a much colder freezer section due to increased cycling of unit.

I would like to make the freezer colder and the refrigerator warmer.
right now the refrigerator is about 40* and the freezer about 27*.

If you make the fridge any warmer you very likely will be throwing food away due to it spoiling.

Are you sure you didn't mean to say......make the fridge section colder?

I would think you would want BOTH colder based on temps you posted.
More thermistor UP on the cooling fin in back of fridge section.

No, the freezer hardly keeps ice cream cold enough, if we turn it down things in the refrigerator freeze.
