If you have CG close by, like I do ( State Park, about 20 minutes away ), go, even if it's just for an overnight. I've gone three times now ( mild winter here this year ) and I learned a few new things each time. Having a blast too ! Good luck and have fun !

You can read all you want about how to set up, etc. But, just doing it will be the learning experience. Don't be afraid to ask nearby campers questions when your setting up, no one is going to make fun of you, and they will be glad to help, we have all been there.

Congrats on the Cougar!!

We brought our 2012 27RLS home today
Was able to spend a night camping and trying stuff out before the 125 mile trip home through the Ozark mts
Our 5.3 GMC 1500 did a great job pulling but the trip through the mts and 7 percent grades convinced me that it's time for a new updated brake controller

It looks like We have exactly the camper that we wanted, time will tell of course, but we have not seen or read anything to make us feel otherwise

DW and I will do some driveway camping so we can fiqure out the little modifications we want to do and have the tools and supplies handy to do them

Then....who knows where we will head out for this Spring?

Thanks for your post and looking forward to seeing more updates from you folks!!

Congratulations on your new trailer. I have a 2011 27rls, and put about 4k miles on it without any issues. Tows well with a chevy 1500.

Sounds like every topic on here you have an opinion and especially about your frame. I would suggest you trade your Cougar.

I have a suggestion. Check the welds at the back of the pinbox for cracking before every trip. Mine let go and dropped the RV onto my truck bed. 2010 Cougar in sig. I honestly hope your experience is better than mine has been.

1) Aren't internet forums for sharing opinions? Have you ever posted your opinion in a thread? Gimmie a break!
2) I certainly DO have an opinion on Lippert Frames. You would too had you experienced what I experienced.
3) I would trade it in if I wouldn't lose my shirt on the deal, but alas, I'm stuck with it for a few more years.
4) I will continue to post about my experience. If you don't like it, don't read it.
5) I didn't realize this was a TT because it was posted in Fifth Wheels section when I read it. I feel my experience is relevant to all Lippert Framed 5er owners. Checking one's rig before a trip is a good idea don't you think? Ever check yours over before heading out?

P.S. Your choice in trucks is as bad as your manners.

That is all.

I trade trucks every 2 or 3 years and have not taken a truck back to the service department for repairs since 1997 and it was an F150 with a recall. I drive my trucks and do not have to worry about the transmission going out or the electrical systems like a lot of Dodge trucks have problems with. The proof is in the pudding about who has the number 1 selling trucks for many years running. So my choice of truck is the BEST!

Sorry that you can't afford to trade your camper with the terrible frame under it.

When we first started we kept a yellow legal pad on the table to make notes and reminders of things we wanted to buy.
Nowadays, we still keep a yellow legal pad on the table for the same reason...

Example: The other day I took the covers off a light in my trailer
so I could get model numbers off of it. I'm going to replace a few lights with LEDs. Just to see how well they work...
In November we were camping in a heavy storm, all power went out for miles and hours (12). I made the note because LEDs use much less battery power than regular 12V lights.
