DW and I are heading to John Pennekamp SP in June. Never stayed there before and was wondering about some suggestions on places to get a drink and maybe lunch or dinner. Thanks for the help. No substitute for experience.

No shortage of places down there to eat and drink. We like to go to Islamorada and go to Lorilei's on the gulf for sunset. Whale Harbor for drinks to watch the Charter boats come in. Lots of really good little Cuban places down there for lunch and dinner.

Our two favorites are Buzzards Roost and Hobos.
We also like Rib Daddys.
The above three have great Mahi Sandwsiches at reasonable prices.
We are not big restaurant goers, but while eating our Mahi sandwiches have watched people get the Sunday buffett brunch at Rib Daddys and it looks awesome. All you can eat, and the chef custom cooks what every you want.
If you go to Buzzards Roost, ask for Danny to be your waiter. He was born and brought up on Key Largo and is a great guy. Tell him you are friends of the kayakers from NC. He'll know

We were there snorkeling with our family at Thanksgiving and enjoyed Mama Macs. We all had seafod, sat outside and enjoyed the weather, had a dessert. Good time.

We're headed down in a few weeks to JP also, thanks to a poster on RV net who alerted us that a week turned up as available on the res site.
Have built a great trip around that lucky opening. Going to three other FL state parks plus Everglades NP and Ft De Soto County Park. Especially looking forward to it now since we had to cancel another Feb trip due to a death in the family.
Was just wondering yesterday about where to eat out at Key Largo...so really appreciate these suggestions from all who posted. No substitute for personal knowledge. Thanks!
