I have a Weber Q120 that I have been using for over 10 years. I love the grill but continue to have trouble with it. Seems to be a regulator problem, I think, I am looking at replacing the regulator for the 3rd time. Again, last week end I could not get the grill to light. I run a hose from the tank on the 5th wheel to the grill; have tried the small green bottles also, still won't light; using push button start and matches...nothing!!
Any others on here experienced same or similar problem with a Q120?

We too have owned a Q120 for years and about every two years I need to clean all the gas holes in the burner and use a round rough wire to clean out the gas orifice to the burner. This tool is available in hardware stores for less than $10.00. Have never had to replace the regulator. You do need to make sure you are connecting to the gas bottle in the RV before the internalRV regulator(Directly to the tank). Two regulators in series won't work properly. But since you say it isn't working properly with the small separate welding gas bottle then that isn't the problem in that set up.
ON EDIT:
I forgot to suggest checking to see if the sparking button is truly producing a spark. Since it also won't light using a match you probaly are not receiving an adequate amount of gas. Either the orifice is clogged or too many holes are plugged in the burner. Remove the burner to clean the holes and the orifice.

Ditto on cleaning the burner. I use a small drill bit that I twist between my fingers and clear the holes along the burner tube. Have to do it about once every other year or so. Sometimes more.

I have the same grill but it is less than 1 year old. Same problem! They (Weber) sent me a new regulator. I was carrying a separate tank, with a Weber hose, and now that I put on the new regulator I'm going back to the portable bottles. Read an article in Trailer Life that the hoses allow (create) some type of oil which - over time - plugs up the regulator on the grill. Not sure if that's true or not, but for the time being I'm going to stick to the coleman small disposable tanks, and see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't, I'm going to another brand entirely and donate the damn Weber. I couldn't get the grill hot enough to sear a rib-eye steak!!!! So - seems to be working normally now - time will tell.
The info we got from Weber with a free regulator was that the large tank with hose connection needed to be connected and open for a minute or so prior to lighting some thing to do with the pressure difference from the tank to the small bottle. I don't know if it is true but after using my grill in that manner I have never had another problem.

I was told the same thing from Weber and sometime that works and sometimes it doesn't.They didn't offer me any kind of regulator and I would of gladly paid for it.I have had this regulator apart and found no blockage and blown the jet out and cleaned the burner holes,nothing has changed.My next step is to drill out the gas jet to the next bigger size.If that doesn't work then I see a youtube video starring my 15 lb sledge hammer and sending it to Weber.
Never had a problem with my regulator...it is sitting in the cellar in a plastic bag
Converted mine, years ago, to run off the low pressure connection on a bumper pull I had and just keep moving it to each new RV. Removed the regulator and in place of it, put a male quick connect, a couple of hoses (I have a 4' and 10') and I'm good to go. I have a fold up table for it, but, if I want to put it on the picnic table, I've got up to 14' of hose (actually 24', I can take the hose I use for the Campfire-in-a-Can and use it, too). No regulator, no problems. I have heard of regulator issues, but, since I don't use one, I've never looked into the failures or ferreted out a long range solution to the potential problem.

I have 2 Webers, a 200 and a new 120 we're travelling with. The 200 is on it's third regulator, 2 having failed with use of a 20 pound tank. I also had one hose fail. Weber customer service has been superb replacing both regulators under warrantee and absolutely a pleasure to deal with on the phone. The 120 we are currently using the small bottles and I think it will stay that way. The 200 I'll run at home using the 20 pound tank but using a Coleman post drawing my fuel off the upper outlet.
There is an flow safety devise on larger LP tanks. Some times that need to be reset. I know I have had that issue on my large Weber grill at home. If I follow the instruction in the owners manual and it seems to work fine again.
