Another piece? not me.
I have seen steps intended for just such a purpose, however.
My TT had a single fold down step, making for 2 - 12 inch steps up. I replaced it with a two-step model, making for 3 - 8 inch steps, much more comfortable to climb/descend.

I recently saw a magazine article about someone who made a piece using several 2x4's on edge and then fastened them to the step. they stapled carpet around them and said it worked. It may have been in the GS Highways, or maybe Motorhome.

I made steps they are boxes, one inside, one on step, two on ground.the one on step cannot interfere with step.the step goes down and then in so make sure nothing is under step.I have forgot a few times and started the motor.every step should be the same height.

Only needed to add a step below the first one when I was parked on a hill. (our camper came with a fold out style). It seems like you could add some wood to your step with some grip tape to even it out?
