Why not put black water cleaning chemical in the gray water tank to clean it? I am thinking of all the grease that might be in it. Like Thetfords Campa-clean " waste digestion and tank cleaning". Thank you for your advice

I do that with our grey tank once in awhile.

It's probably a good idea if your gray water tank also serves as a galley tank. If you have a separate galley tank then I don't see any advantage to using it in the gray but the galley could still use a dose once in a while. Best though to try to avoid letting grease get INTO the waste system if at all possible. We put our grease in containers and it goes into the trash dumpster.

I dumped a whole container of Oxi-Clean in my kitchen grey tank. I did it twice and the tank was so clean that even the gauge started working.

Yeah, I don't think caring for the gray tank is forbidden, but in general, the black tank is a bit tougher and doesn't get a lot of soap sent to it during normal operation.

IMHO, no need for chemicals in gray tank as long as you're semi-careful about what goes in there. I keep a sink strainer in the drain to avoid large pieces of food or whatever from going in & I avoid putting grease down it.
Also dump it at least once/week, sometimes more often depending on parking situation. If you don't let everything sit in there for a long time, you shouldn't have a problem, either with odors or stuff settling in the bottom.
No comparison with the black tank.

The tanks are the same......same material etc. so they don't care.
You can use same cleaners, deodorizers, digesters.........or nothing at all and just give them a good rinsing.

i treat both my tanks the same. whatever i put in the black tank i put in the grey also. keeps everything squeaky clean. and smellin good too.

No problem doing that, some do.
