Have not camped there but spent a day. For any tenters, the best sites are along the river (tents only.) You must park in parking lot & walk down a path with your gear....a buggy/wheelbarrow is provided for your use. Restroom nearby. These sites do have foliage/trees unlike the open sites in main section. As said, really nothing else nearby...its all about the river

There's a cheese factory in West Jefferson I believe it is. The only one in NC. Sparta is a neat little town. You are also not too far from the Blue Ridge parkway...

Wish I could open those pics bigger. Looks like a nice place, but probably not worth a 3 hour drive for us. I may look around Boone or Wilkesboro.

we didn't camp but drove in to check out the cg cause we were in the area.

clean, nice. I liked the sites. it is all about the river. the river was fun to wade. be sure to bring sneaks, those rocks are rough on the feet. but enjoyable.

I might camp there in the future.
