We are heading to this area to possibly look for a house to buy. We have been full timing for close to 5 years and think it is time to look for a small place to live. Actually, we have looked in a number of places in this great country. We are hoping this area will be what we are looking for.
So, we need a suggestion for a place to camp for a month or so.
Thanks.

I would call Orchard Lake. It is in Saluda. A really great CG. Near Hendersonville. 14 miles or so. Saluda is just off I-26, and as luck would have it. At the top of Saluda Grade. however. the road out of Saluda to Orchard Lkae, while no problem. IS twisty.
BTW open from April to October

We have stayed at Park Place RV Park in Flat Rock. It's not fancy but decent and reasonably priced. Jamey might give you a good monthly rate. It is very convenient to I-26 and Hendersonville.

My vote is for Park Place too. Family run, basic and inexpensive.
First law of science: don't spit into the wind.
Keep on rollin'!

Needless to say you will get many opinions. We did the same thing before moving here several years ago. It depends on how close you want to be to H'ville, the area you are looking to move to, how long you plan to stay in the RV, and what amenities you want. Check out Woodall's or Trailer Life's listings for the area. Shoot me a private message if I can be of any help.

Looks like you are doing the reverse of my husband and I. We moved to Asheville (Weaverville area) a few years ago after an exhaustive search of the surrounding area for a place to retire. We fell in love with the easy access to highways and byways from the north and found a wonderful log cabin hidden in the trees. We just bought our first RV and are heading out to explore the country when Spring arrives officially.
You may want to try something closer in to Asheville like this park near us. http://www.campfirelodgings.com/index.asp
We found Hendersonville to be very populated and busy with a longer drive to Asheville than we preferred. From the North we have quick access to wonderful medical care in Asheville plus all the cultural activities and are still nestled in the woods on 4 acres of land.
I have the name of a wonderful realtor should you wish it. Just send me a private message for more info.

you can't go wrong with Campfire Lodgings......fabulous views including French Broad River.
Great location with easy interstate access. You do need to know it is pricey with a curving road up to campground. Full hkups & nice restrooms. Pet friendly, trails.

If you are willing to expand your search - check out Creekwood Farms in Waynesboro. They have a reasonable monthly rate, nice folks, it is located right off I 40 - so might be too far for you. Give it a thought
