That looks less like an axleshaft problem than it does a broken ball joint.
What did you hit?
And is that a Rubicon?

Is the Jeep in the hills in the 532,000 acre Manistee National Forest in West/Northwest Michigan? We've seen several Jeeps with this same front end issue while riding the trails/backroads up there as we've owned acreage in that forest! since 1987 and 4 wheel/offroad motorbike/snowmobile there. Beautiful area and fun trails and hills! Never seen any other make of production vehicle with the same breakage issues, just Jeeps! As someone had posted, they must not be up to the task!

That or maybe a tie rod? Either way, it won't be fun getting it out of there.
The camber angle on the tire makes me thing the ball joint went. A broken tie rod or tie rod end is actually pretty easy to field-fix and limp off the trail...a BJ, not so much!
Hummer is WAY to big to fit through the trails we run and wouldn't make it through the rocks we wheel in. The limited articulation of the hummer and sheer size makes it not correct for the wheeling we do.
Jeep in the pic is a standard Jeep Wrangler, not a Rubicon. Locked front and rear axles, alloy axle shafts, 4.0 with a manual and 35 inch Pro_Comp X-Terrains.
No it's not a ball joint. CV axle shaft, unit bearing, brakes and drag link were damaged. To get it off the trail....Pinched off brake line, installed spare unit bearing and axle shaft, wired drag link up. Towed out with another Jeep.
