I am getting ready to replace the tires of my 31ft class C because of the cracks on the sidewalls. I was told by three different tire stores that I will need to replace all six tires. The tires on my rig as of now only have about nine thousand miles on them, with alot of tread left on them. My question is, would I need to replace the inner tires on the rear as well, since they have not been exposed to the elements as much as the outer tires?

You should replace rear duels as a pair. because the diameter needs to be the same, so load is equal on both. If you change only one you will over load one tire and boom any questions?

Vehicles have two major safety systems; brakes and tires. That's no place to be cutting corners. Replace the tires.

If they're Michelin LTX's and not too old, Michelin has been known to pick up some of the cost of replacing prematurely cracked tires. Don't know if they're still doing this or not, but it's worth asking at a Michelin dealer.

When we replaced the Michelin LTXs on our C last summer, the inside duals were just as cracked as the outers. Not worth the risk of tearing out expensive RV components.

Hi rfaivre, After purchasing my lightly used motorhome I had the same problem. I know that safety is important, but 6 tires all at once was beyond my bank account at the time.

After looking at age and the the cracking, figured that front tires were the biggest safety concern so I purchased front tires first, put the best four of the original 6 tires on the rear and then replaced all four rear tires later.

Now my goal is to wear them all out, hate to have all that tread left over.

I thought I should replace all the tires, I just wanted to make sure that the tires dealers were not trying to make a extra buck. Thank you for you input.

NEVER NEVER NEVER skimp on your families safety by simply trying to save a few bucks, especially on tires. Enough said...... Life is too short already!
