All the routing services say I 15 south form Las Vegas then I 10 east to Palm Springs/Cathedral City. Looking on the map there is a more direct route getting off I15 at Barstow on 247 south but I have learned that many roads that look good on the map are not good for a 36ft class A RV with a Porsche toad. Any advice?

I would get off 15 South at exit #286/Nipton Road and head south to 29 Palms and then in to Palm Springs. If the landscape is going to be desert I prefer to see it on a 2 lane. Plus Interstate 15 is not a very safe drive.

I would take I-15 south to 247 in Barstow to 62 west in Yucca Valley to I-10 east. I took this route a few times one a couple of weeks ago going to Desert Hot Springs. It's a good road all the way. 247 & 62 are 2 lane, not much traffic at all. From our house in Las Vegas to Desert Hot Springs it was 297 miles.
Have a safe trip.
Just noticed that is the second time you asked this question.

X2... We took this route last year. Good 2-lane highway, very little traffic. Gotta go through a couple of little towns, but no big deal.

Neumann has it right on the money. Go south on I-15 from Las Vegas, get off on the Barstow Rd off ramp and turn left into 247. Drive up to Lucerne and turn left at the stop sign. Proceed to Yucca Valley and turn right at the stop light. Take road 67 through Morongo Valley to I-10. Go over the bridge and turn towards Palm Sprins which would be south on I-10.

I have driven these routes from Vegas to Palm Springs. It all depends what you want to do and see.

Concern is we are driving a Porsche Carerra on all 4 with a 10 inch drop from the RV...not on a trailer...it is a $100,000 car...will the roads on 247/62 screw it up?

I don't think I would be towing a Carrera behind my motorhome unless I had an enclosed trailer.

If you want to see more 2 lanes hwy, one time from Vegas I took 515 to 95 South and to 40 west then exit Essex (National Trails hwy) then turn left at Amboy Rd and left at Adobe Rd then right to hwy 62 (Twenty nine palm hwy) and to 10 E.
