Hey everybody - planning a trip out to Branson, MO in April - wondering if any of you have been and if so, where's the best place to camp?? Also going up to Lake of the Ozark's, so same question about there. Appreciate any help -- if any of you are in Alabama, would appreciate knowing of good places to camp on the way out to Branson - we plan to spend at least a couple of days getting there. Thanks!! Wanda
Tall Pines is a great place to stay. There are also some nice sites at Compton Ridge which is close to Tall Pines. I've also heard that ABC (America's Best Campground) is a good place to stay. Hope you have a great time in Branson. We'll be there for a week in April as well.

We stayed at Americas Best last Summer. A little older and well used but nice enough. Branson itself wasn't our kind of place. Premium prices to see Has Beens and Never Weres doing tribute shows. We can see the real thing locally for about the same money. We loved the surrounding area and spent most of our time exploring out of town. Probably won't go back.

We have stayed at Tall Pines and Compton Ridge. Both are great places. You won't go wrong with either place. Now we started staying at Musicland. We like Musicland for the location. It is right in town, but doesn't feel like it. I think it depends on what is most important to you. All three are nice. We didn't care for some of the other cg suggested on here because they seem too much like a big parking lot. Some like Table Rock also. We have driven through and it looks fine also. Shows to see, plenty of shopping, tour of dam, museums, riverboat, and our favorite place to eat is College of the Ozarks. We have enjoyed every trip. Great place if you like to keep busy.
We were there three years ago with a Caravan we organized and we enjoyed staying at the KOA in Branson. The people there were exremely friendly and helpful. Very close to all the major entertainment facilities. We enjoyed the Dinner -Entertainment on the Riverbaot Branson Belle i think it was called.
We were suprised as its not a location we would have travelled to by oursepves, but we thoroughly emjoyed our visit there.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks. We camp at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park. It is located on Rt 42 about 4 miles south of Rt 54 (main lake road) after you turn in to the State Park it is 5 miles to the campground. It is wooded. There are several loops. We prefer to be near the water. There is only electric hookup. Clean shower houses. Nice paved pads. Lots of shade.

Not sure about Branson but at The Lake of the Ozarks we really enjoyed Riverview RV Resort. Nothing fancy but it was clean and quiet. Right on the river, just below the dam. Have a safe and happy trip!
