AI will tell you something else about waxing the rig.......

You get better gas millage post-wax.. I do it 2x a year, Spring and fall, Just before I take a 800 mile hike from "Winterized" to "Dewinterized"
(Winterized: They do not sell snow blowers where I am currently parked.
De-winterized: They do where I summer)

Use 3M Super Duty Compound. It's what body shop have used for years. Can only get it at auto body suppliers.

I can't vouch for the other products listed, but Mother's Products have worked superb for me. The Carnuba wax (big tin), the Back to Black (moulding bumper/trim enhancer), and the Clay Bar Syetem (removes tar, tree sap, dried bugs etc from finish) work so good I don't bother with anything else.

To those who use Red Max Pro #3 may I ask how long you have used it and does it yellow with time? I have heard this is a floor care product and has no UV inhibitors? I am all for less work next time around.

Read posts on boats/rv's sites for about a year before I decided to put on my rig. It's been on my rig for close to a year now - quick wash brings it back to original shine - will probably put another coat on this summer but maybe not (not sure how often you have to renew).

I have never read a negative post about RMP from an actual RMP user - the negative comments are from people who don't use the product. That's why I finally decided to use on my rig. If you have an older rig that has faded finish/decals the difference will amaze you.

FYI they don't carry RMP #3 at the Portland area Lowes anymore - you can pick up same product called Zep Wet Look Floor Finish at HD - cost more but made by same mfg.

I put RedMAx on the front and rear caps of my fifth wheel a year ago. Still shining fine with no diminishing.

Once again, Red Max is not suggested nor recommended for expensive custom paint jobs, nor any finish that is still in good condition. It's for older deteriorated finishes that no longer respond to traditional wax/polish.

Yes RMP was an experiment for older fiberglass that was chalky. It was based on the experience of boaters and egg type trailers. It seems to be a successful experiment, especially to prevent further chalking and to hold a nice shine for about a year.
Although the shine on ours has diminished and it won't be a year until April. I wouldn't recommend it on a nice new surface where good waxes do the trick. I tried a couple of waxes, expensive ones too, and nothing lasted or looked like RMP. The acrylic that RMP is made from does include UV inhibitors, although as a floor finish, RMP does not say specifically that it contains them.
One person said the finish yellows slightly over time but you would only notice if you left part of your rig undone and then waited long enough to notice a difference. It is possible to remove with any ammonia based cleaner or the made for the purpose stripper.
So long time users are very happy with the stuff and it is great to have the rig look nice longer than any wax I used before RMP.

Thanks for all the good info. I may buy some Red Max for next year. My kids now have five coats of wax on so no need this year. Doubt the trailer looked this good new. Mother's California Gold is best wax we have tried. Gets easier to take off with every layer. Some of the neighborhood kids now think waxing the trailer is "fun" and want to go for one more layer.
