Has anyone replaced this type with LEDs?

The photo above is same as the ones that I was referring to when asking about dimming them. I believe they are the 921 wedge type, and yes you can order them in LED. I just ordered some of these and also some SMD 36 panels to convert my floresent fistures this morning. They are avaliable in 2 different sizes, and for the cost, I ordered a package of each size. They won't go to waste... I hope!

So what brand did you go with for the 921 bulb type?

and this is another - EWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649">Shorter ones
Also ordered some to change over my floresent lights. Plan to do same as earlier poster. THis is what I ordered for the floresent EWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649">For the floresent
Hope these links work...

Would these help converting a 12v fluorescent fixture.

I found them here.
LEDLIGHTSWORLD

The site on a different page say's to remove starter/ballast and wire the led tubes direct.

That #921 wedge base bulb is very common, and there are numerous types of LED replacements for them. Here is a picture of one type, showing 3 variations which use 5050 SMDs (sometimes call Tri-Chips because each 5050 SMD contains 3 LEDs):

I used the one above that has 9 each 5050 SMDs in my swivel reading lights. They work fine, and you can get them for as low as buck each on eBay with free shipping.

They also make similar wedge base bulbs that use 1210 (also called 3528) SMDs, which would be a good choice if you want a little less light (perhaps for a mood light).

To find #921 wedge base LED bulb replacements on eBay, search for: "921 LED SMD white" without the quotes, and select sort by "Price + Shipping - Lowest First". If you want to restrict searches to a type of SMD, include that in the search parameters (for example, include 5050 or 1210 or 3528 in the search string). Also, for cheap items like these, I usually prefer to just buy them rather than bid on them, so I restrict the display to "Buy It Now" by selecting the appropriate tab at the top of the search results page.

Here are a couple of pics of other 921 type variations:

Best wishes....

If you have space there are also panels with the wedge base available. To me the panels are better for overhead lighting since the light is directed down. They are also available in brighter configurations, the 24 5050 SMD LED panels for example, and the old standby 36 1210 SMD LED panels.

Don't forget they are available in various color temperatures. Warm white approximates the color of incandescent bulbs while white is closer to daylight. As always, better to order one or two and try them before ordering many.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking of going with the wafer looking one that Netboy posted. That just seems to make more sense to me in that all the light is directed down.
