Do you have less than 100K on the motor? If so you are under warranty - call a dealer.
But to me it sounds like a fuel issue - have you tried priming the system or even changing out the fuel filter?
Edit: - Ah, missed the 231K bit in the second post. SOL on warranty!
Code reader sounds like a good idea.
Let's hope it's not the fuel pump!

True. To many possibilities to make guesses. Once you post the codes it's a lot easier to suggest options.
As for the wrecker. Can they not take the driveshaft loose and tow you from the front? That's a pretty common method when towing heavy trucks.

Confused by this statement.
My first read thought you said "cranks over but won't start" but on reread I am not so sure.
A plugged fuel filter can easily cause a limp then a crank but not start condition.
Code Reader is a good start -it points you towards the problem that the ECM didn't like that caused the limp.

Thanks guys I said something about said method of towing it from the front and let's just say we I passed on it after both tow drivers looked at me like a deer in the head lights .... So I guess I'll have to get the codes pulled .... What about disconnecting the batt??
