Thanks guys I said something about said method of towing it from the front and let's just say we I passed on it after both tow drivers looked at me like a deer in the head lights .... So I guess I'll have to get the codes pulled .... What about disconnecting the batt??

Disconnecting the batteries can clear codes but not the condition that caused the codes. If your crank but not start is fuel delivery related the hard reset(reboot) gains nothing but additional difficulty in figuring out the root cause.

Ohh yeah and is there some way of priming something from under the hood or somthing along those lines while some one inside the truck tries to start it ?

Thanks again guys !

The Duramax Owners Manual Supplement has fuel system priming instructions but fuel systems don't just lose their prime without a root cause.

You could prime it with the little thing on the top of the fuel pump. I had a problem with my GMC one time and it wouldn't start. Finally I decided to prime it and it started right up. Your situation doesn't sound quite like mine since mine sat overnight in a cold situation, but almost anything is worth a try.

Have you tried priming it? There's a pump on top of the fuel filter housing.

Hello guys as some of you know I just got my first diesel 08 duramax ....so today I was going down the road the hauling about 3500lbs of dirt the truck just went into limp mode and just died and still wont start and the little picture of a motor light is on .... on top of that AAA didnt have a truck heavy duty enough to tow it!!!they put the arms under the rear end and tried to lift it and no go so we gotta get another truck , but if any of you have a clue please help.

Hope you got your truck going again.
My bet is the code is P0087 low fuel rail pressure and the fuel filter is the culprit OR if you had the filter changed recently by a "professional" they didn't tighten the WIF sensor on the bottom of the filter and the truck lost prime. Let me know which one it was

Truck is complety stock with 231k on it .....turns over but wont crank

That is about all you will get out of a D-Max. Have it towed to the closest Dodge dealer and trade it for a truck with a Cummins that is built to last.

I have 328,000 miles on mine still going strong. Just pulled 3 40foot park models.
As for towing it, the truck can be towed 4 wheels down by shifting the transfer case into neutral. The parking brake has to be set to do so. You can look more into these in the owners manual
