I have a kohler 7CKM21-RV I took it out of a old motorhome I junked. The gen ran fine when I took it out. But I am sure it could use a tune up and maybe a carb rebuild. I know that is a pretty generic question, but are these things worth anything? What type of reputation do they have? I know nothing about this thing. It's a 7 KW

If a tuneup will make it work for you go for it, the price is right. That was a good unit in it's day but service parts for the generator dried up years ago. Kohler got out of the rv market.

I think you would be surprised at the interest you'll get in it. Depending on where you can sell it, it may fetch all the way up to $1,000.
Kolar engines are rock solid and highly regarded. The issue you'll have is how to sell it. If I was you I would go to SmokeStak get into the generator forum and then ask your question again. I think you'll be surprised.

We have the 5000 watt version. Being a high end system when cost cutting hit in the 90's they were not as popular with the builders. Our 1993 GBM shipped with Kohler gen sets.

Many years ago we use to call them 'thrashing machines'!
Maybe one of the reasons they got out of the RV business.
Still think they make pretty good commercial genererators.

Kohler RV units were one step above Genajunk. They do build great standby units.

Doug is correct. Kohler RV units were junk. That is why they got out of the RV business. The Diesel units for RVs was pretty good. But the gas ones were junk. They do build great Standby units. Some of the best out there.

There is a REASON you do NOT see Kohler RV APU's out there anymore. They were the most troublesome units built. Doug (RV tech for 33 years and state this based on THAT time in the RV industry and all the problems we experianced with Kohler APU's). So, you may find someone to purchase it, but they would not be a knowledgable buyer.

Go to www.allofcraigs.com and do a nationwide CL search for that type of genset to see if you get any hits. If there's a market out there for them, you might find some and price yours accordingly. You might also want to check eBay.
