We're in Shepherdsville, KY and awoke this morning to strong storms. About 8:00 local time the tornado sirens went off and less than a minute later the KOA guys were knocking on the door directing us to the rec room to wait out the warnings.
There were 4-5 very well behaved dogs and 2 cats in the room when 2 people came in with their dogs on flexi's NO control. These bozo's didn't have a clue. Their dogs did rapid walk all around the room approaching any animal within thier 20' reach until I told them to control thier dogs and shorten their leads.
DUMB. Most animals are scared with storms, sirens, being in a strange room with strange animals and people. What a reciepe for disaster and these people didn't have a clue.
All is clear now, we're back in the RV with no issues.
I just had to vent.

Perhaps some of these "owners" should be on a flexi-lead.

Gee Wizz DOC, ... Hate's such a strong word!
Glad y'all are OK! Btw, how come you're not at work?

PS People are idiots! For example, my friend keeps his dump station open 24/7/365 for anyone who needs to use it FREE of charge!
Last week, someone opened their black tank, now listen to this! FIVE FEET FROM THE DUMP STATION, you read right, FIVE FEET from the dump station! Leaving human feces, toilet paper, and I would guess Pee on the parking lot asphalt. Then maded like a tree, and leaves!

Interesting that you mentioned that. We don't like them either...seems most every time we come across someone with their dog on a Flexi, they get all tangled up with our dogs and us which are on 6 foot leads...
Flexi's allow very little real control over a dog.

I'm glad you're okay.
In general I completely share your dislike of flexi leashes. But I have noticed that Petsmart is carrying a line made by Kong that's significantly shorter -- a six-foot version for smaller dogs and an eight-foot version for medium sized dogs. To me those are much more reasonable lengths. But for control and handler comfort IMO you just can't beat a high-quality six-foot leather leash.

Thanks.
Take your pick
1. Vacation
2. Testing out retirement
3. Avoiding the winter weather we never really had this year.

We like our flex leads for long walks on deserted beaches or on the state trail (usually deserted) by our home. However, when we're around other people, they are always shortened up. People just need to learn how to use them.

The problem isn't the lead but the person controlling it.

I carry a muzzle just for that reason. Roxie has never shown any inclination toward human aggression but under those circumstances, I don't want to take the chance.
