Our problem is we're using Office 2000 so we have trouble opening some documents others send us. Will this enable us to open newer documents sent to us?
Open Office will open most MIcrosoft formats, Most Mac Formats, Most LInux Formats.. I do not know if it opens them all.
But it will also edit and save in those formats, or in it's own OO format.
I used it when I was working for a political campaign.> I'd open the files using my computer,, edit them and save them in the original format.. The others in the office could then open and use them exactly as though I had used the same software they used.
Very nice software.
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

Open Office, Libre Office are good products, I use them also. But, the least disruption (she is already using Office 2000) is to just use the Compatibility Pack from MS. She installs it and her 'experience' is the same as it has been for the past 10 years.

One question I have about the Compability Pak is that it says to install any important MS updates. The only one showing was IE 8, which I don't want to use as I've heard it has it's own problems..Will the Compatibility pack work if I'm using IE 7?

It should work with IE7. Is it not letting you install because you don't have the updates? Or, is it just a general suggestion?

It was a suggestion...I've not had time to try to download it. Hopefully tomorrow!
