There has been speculation that people pay $150 - $200 for a routine oil change for a diesel truck.
I'm taking a poll. Please state your make/model/engine in your diesel truck, and how much an oil change costs you out of pocket. Please also add if you DIY or the dealer or a lube shop does it.
Here's mine:
- DIY
- Oil $30 (dino) - $50 (Synthetic)
- Oil Filter (Fleetgaurd) $20
- 2007 Cummins 5.9L
Total: $50 - $70
2010 Cougar 322QBS 5er
2007 Dodge 3500 SRW Megacab, 4x4, 5.9L Cummins, 3.73, 48RE auto
HYPERTECH MAX ENERGY or DIABLO PREDATOR tuning
MBRP 4" Turbo back
Scangauge2 for Boost, Coolant temp, Rail press & Trans Temp
Torklift Stable Loads

The same - dino oil $50 and don't forget the Cummins extended mileage - 15,000 of normal driving - cheaper than my wifes 300c.

You don't really need a poll.. I think the 5.9L oil capacity is around 12L and it's the added fluids that is what costs. To compare, my hemi I think holds 6L.. So, simple calculation will tell you that to do an oil change on my old '06 5.9L was at least twice as expensive as my gasser in a DIY scenario. $150 - $200 seems like someone is getting taken to the cleaners for a "Routine oil change"

Ditto. I had the dealer do the first oil change on my 06' in late 2005. I think it was about $120. I have done all since then.

There was a time when I did my own. Now just let the Ford dealer do it. $97.46 for oil change. 5th oil change is free. So net per change cost is $77.97.
Worth the difference to me for the hassle of changing it and disposing of the oil.

This poll is in relation to another thread I didn't want to hijack. I'm well aware of what it costs to do an oil change on a 5.9L Cummins, been doing my own for going onto 7 years now...
In regards to the cost of a Hemi oil change vs a Cummins...Mine is due every 15,000 miles (~24,000 Km). What's yours? Asking because I have never owned a Hemi and don't know what they suggest for OCI.

2006 6.0L PSD
14.2L of 15W/40 - $43(Rotella dino oil)
MotorCraft filter - $21
Taxes and stuff probably $65 and I take my oil up to the local HHW depot for disposal while making a junk run - allowed 5 gallons/20L at a time.
I've never taken her to the dealer for an oil change so not sure the price in my neck of the woods.
