It's right there in the VERY FIRST SENTENCE; "I was curious..."

I get between 8 and 10.

I'm pulling about 7k with my Sequoia (401 lb ft torque)
Our first long haul we averaged 8.3 mpg.

Your mileage seems bad for pulling a reasonably small trailer. What speed are you running? If you are running 70-75, then I can see it. If you are not in hurry, you can probably get much better MPG than you are getting.

We run at 60 and get 10.5 with the rig in the photo. That's an honest number for a flat, calm day. The range is roughly 8-13 depending on wind.

8.4

That's the one time I figured it out in the last 20 years - last year going from Bowie, MD to Erie, PA including lots of mountains on I-68 with the A/C on, going a steady 65 mph, with a net rise in altitude of about 800 ft.

Wow, what are you towing that you get 15 mpg? I'm impressed, also a bit disbelieving.
Only 27.5 ft. Phx. to Alamogordo, N. M. But not a breath of wind that day. Flat land most of the way. Next day some wind, hills back to 11. Wind take far more fuel than hills or mountains.

2005 Chev 5.3 Supercharged 395HP 425 T hp. Two wheels on front, 2 on back. one seat, tint windows. front and rear bumpers, headlights, windows. Door on each side. Heater, floor mats, 6 Reese candy bars, junk behind seats, some dirt. Pulls so hard.

13.7 towing a whole lot of two lane mountain roads with an F150 5.4 and 3:55 axle. But my TT only weighs 3000# and I don’t run high rpm’s even climbing grades. Sometimes I don’t even drop into second gear.

7.5 with the motorhome, 16-18 with the pickup, 27-29 with the wife's Accord (I just gave that to my daughter) and 37-39 with the subcompact I got to replace the Accord when my wife died last month. I have a scooter that gave me 80 mpg when I was riding it to and from work.
