After reading another post about Interstate travel got a question for some of you more traveled readers. I am planning a trip to SD this summer some of which will probably be on I90. I looked and speed limit is 75mph. I do not tow at more than 60-62mph. Will I be a traffic hazard? With possible $5.00 a gal fuel I really don't wish to increase my speed as the gas guage will correspondingly drop. Thoughts?

Depending on where you are on I-90 you can often have the entire road to yourself as far as you can see ahead and behind you. We always travel at 60-65 and believe me you'll never be a traffic hazard at that speed.

You will not be alone in you slow travelings, be kind stay in the right hand lane use turn signals, you may be the only one doing these things, but it is appreciated anyways

There are so many people traveling I90 up here that I think most are used to slower trafficking buggering up the works in the summer, add in construction and some days are longer than others.

Most of the big trucking companies like swift or j b hunt have there trucks set to between 62-65 so you wont be alone. When I was over the road driving truck I never had a problem out there and my truck was set at 63. Just keep you lights on and stay in the right lane.

I have traveled to and from rapid city for the past two summers on I-90 at 62-63 mph and i have yet to be a traffic hazard. I will be going again the 1st of may and you can look for me in the right lane at 62-63 mph and hopefully not holding anybody up, if there is anyone else. LOL. I work in Custer State Park for the summer months and i travel the full length from east line to rapid city.

Never had a problem from one end of the state to the other at 65 mph.

The only annoyance is summer road construction and it can go forever at 55-60 mph.
