Our house in under contract and the 3 years of "thinking about it" looks like it is coming true. We will be going full time when the house sells. i have been lurking for that three years and learning from all of you out there. Thanks. Now with our timeline looking like 30-60 days, I need to get more clear on a few things, so you will be seeing questions.

Here is the first one. My plan is to get a enclosed trailer for the Xterra. Do RV Parks usually have the space to store a trailer on site? If I leave it hooked up, we are looking at over 60feet of length. I thought about a tow dolly, but the trailer would give me plenty of storage room as well for my toys.

Thanks for any advice.

Most of the RV parks we have been to do not have room for an extra trailer. Some will have a separate storage or parking area but in our experience that is rare.

You will find you will have to much more planning about where to stop as you travel because there won't be a lot of parks that have room for you. Lots of people do it, but they are limited in where they can go.

You don't indicate what you will be towing with. The hitch weight of the enclosed trailer, the Xterra and all your "toys" will be a factor. Make sure your MH hitch is rated for that weight.

It may depend on the type of RV park you go to. State parks may not have much room to store a trailer.

No sure which Unit we are getting. We are looking at 2001-2005 Tiffin Allegro bus, American Eagle and a few more. i will keep pan eye on the hitch ratings. All my toys are mostly carbon, so they weigh next to nothing.

I"m not sure and some can offer additional info but you might need to watch the length of your rig in some states. No sure about this, comments?

After towing my boat last season I found that most campgrounds including state/federal parks had either a long enough site for me to park in or a parking area I could drop the boat. Some places needless to say wanted the extra $$ for the trailer parking. I don't think it will be major factor for you towing.

One thing i thought of is this. Before we jump into a covered trailer, which I like due to the extra storage, what about renting a U-Haul car trailer. That way when we get to our destination, we simply return the trailer locally and rent another one when it is time to go. Less initial investment and it would allow us to determine if we really need a covered trailer. Does anyone else rent their car trailers from U-Haul?
Thanks,
J

You'll find that many of the "older" parks won't be able to accommodate the length you need... but many of the "newer" parks will. I can't quantify older/newer - most / many RV parks have a website that will give you the info you need. If not online - then a quick telephone call will work.

You're talking about a really nice Class A & trailer so I am supposing that you will be opting for "a mid or higher end" park, or at least not the "mobile home & trailer park" type. Most WILL be able to accommodate you.

Have a great time
