Diagnosed with the same thing 8 years ago. Been fulltiming ever since.

Take meds & have it checked every year & it's staying too small for operating. Did yours suddenly get bigger?

Had an uncle who was diagnosed at age 88 with one so big they'd have operated except he was too old. Died a year later of pneumonia.

Asked Doc what would happen if one burst. He said not an instant death, but you won't have time to get to hospital. So I figure, we all gotta go sometime. I don't worry about driving - hope I'll have time to pull over.

I had one 3 years ago it was 3cm above busting point and ready to burst, it depends on were it is, high or low, they can put in a (Y) splint, nothing to it they go in your crotch, the side of your leg. When they checked me out for the surgery they found 3 blocked veins, they did the triple bypass after I healed from the Aneurysm, I was 66 yrs old at the time. Don't go selling a bunch of stuff or giving things away thinking that you are not going to make it, I thought that and even made final arrangements. They have came a long way in doing this kind of stuff it is not as bad as what you might think, what had been major surgery a few years ago is now just a every day thing. Hang in there.

Hi Al! Don't sell out yet. Give yourself time to digest the news first. AAA is no doubt serious stuff. I work in an assisted living facility. A year ago last month I sent a lady out to the hospital because her triple A blew. (she'd had the diagnosis for nearly 7 years, she is now 92) Had to argue like crazy to get her to go. She finally agreed but gave the ambulance crew a hard time, the surgeon a hard time. All the nurses in rehab/recovery a hard time. Eventually wound up back with me....and is still giving me a hard time! Hold onto the B.....

Had the dang thing hang around for a few yrs before the Dr said "let's fix it"... I was taking flying lessons at the time and didn't stop. That was 10 yrs ago. Mine was done the 'old fashioned way", I wasn't a candidate for the new easy way because of the way they hook onto the other arteries. Slow recovery but all is well. A yr later had triple bypass. The surgeon said after the aorta thing, I could take anything. 30 days later I had the caratid arteries cleaned out. Hey, I'll be 76 this month...so i'm not complaining.
