My kids really want to go to the beach this summer and I want to take our new travel trailer. Looking for a place that is in the northeast that is on or very near the ocean.

Assateague National Seashore NP just below Ocean City, MD.

We like the National Seashore. No hookups, but you can camp just over the dune from the beach. The State Park next door is similar but has one loop with electric sites.
If you need FHU, Frontier Town is only a couple of miles away and has an amusement park as well.

X2. This is our favorite. We spend 4-5 weekends there every summer. Book early as it fills fast.
If you want to go further north. Bar Harbor and Acadia are beautiful. We stayed at KOA Oceanside. Right on the water.

Beautiful area, used to go there in our boat from the bay side. Bring bug spray if you go because the biting flies can draw blood.

Here's two suggestions:
Get a campground near Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (There's several)
First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach-you can camp on Chesapeake bay
Just roamin' the country, one state at a time...
