I have a question I'm asking on behalf of a relative. Does the same principal apply to TT's like it does to 5ers when buying new and taking 25-30% off list price? They saw a couple TT's at a show recently and the list prices were like 37-38,000 and "show" priced at 31-32,000. Based on my calculations, they should sell at around 27-28,000. Am I right on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated as we might have someone to go w/ us camping w/ their own rig.
Thanks in advance.

Purchased my Outback a few months ago...sticker was 39,999 and got it out the door for 26k. Do your research first and if your dealer is not pricing it where you want...show them online dealers that are pricing it right. I did this and there was NO negotiating. My dealer sais yes but some might say no...either way its easy and you already know what you want to pay. A bit of online work can save you thousands.
I've been looking at a particular trailer. The final price, including an Equal-i-zer hitch, would result in a 27% discount, based on the dealer's "MSRP" figure.
I've seen the same trailer with a dealer "MSRP" over $4K higher. Granted different options could influence the dealer "MSRP", but I saw nothing in the description or pictures to make it that much higher.
All the trailers I looked at on line, after taking 30% off their "MSRP" or asking price, would end up costing me more than the one that only had a 27% discount.

Should be in the 30-40% off range. My custom order was 33% off with little overhead to a dealer. 28.5k->18.5k. Someone just posted a Prime Time Lacrosse 318 for $25k, MSRP is in the high 30's.

Absolutely correct. The MSRP is set by the dealer, not the manufacturer. When I bought my first trailer MSRP's varied from 19,500 to 24,000 and they were selling for about 16,000. All of the trailers were identical as they only came one way with no options. Depending on how high the dealer sets the MSRP you could get 40% off from one dealer and 25% off from another and be paying the same price.
If the so called MSRP is set by the dealer, then it is incorrect to refer to it as an MSRP. There is a sheet delivered to the dealer by at least several manufacturers that is a true Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. I have seen it on display in several new travel trailers I have looked at. Of course, if the dealer doesn't want the customer to see it, he can certainly not put it on display.
My view is that the asking price for a travel trailer from most dealers is grossly and unpredictably inflated regardless of whether it originated with the manufacturer or the seller. Consequently, I ignore it when figuring an offering price.
