I'm alittle concern about when you use your camper and the security of your house...what I'm getting at is when you use your camper and leave home for days they can tell that no one's home. About the only thing you can do is just leave your camper at a storage facility year round...what do you guys trhink.

We got a home security system in our house just for that reason. It cost us about $200.00 for the installation and $35.00 per month for the monitoring. We need it in our area and has made a world of difference when we take off for a couple of days. The security company will call you if the alarm goes off and will notify the police. If my alarm goes off I will call my neighbors to check it out. Would not have one. I also just out a safe in the MH just a small one to hinder someone while on the road.

We have alarm system and park the rv in a garage, so it can't be seen being at home or when we are gone

I too have a monitored security system and have installed a video recorder and 4 cameras. I replaced the hard drive int he security camera system with a larger one and now can record a fairly high picture quality and retain the video for about a month before it starts to overwrite.

We have a home security system and several great neighbors. We have keys for each other's houses and we look out for each other, pick up the mail etc...
We also have lights around the house inside and outside that are on timers.

i think a good neighbor keeping watch on your property is worth it's weight in gold. stop the papers and mail. arrange to have the lawn cut or snow shoveled. many police depts. will do 'vacation checks' on your home while you're gone. i understand your concern but don't let fear paralyze you.

A big German Shepherd, security lights and cameras that I can view over the internet seem to work for me. We have great neighbors that will also call us if they see something going on. Haven't needed a security system yet, as it seems they just don't think they can outrun or be quiet enough.

The only time my home was burglarized was during the day while we were at work. The RV and a car were in the driveway, they used my own car to haul the items stolen from the house and garage.
The police department of my suburban community has a vacation watch program. Give them a call and they will check the property twice a day at no charge. They actually get out and walk around the house and garage.
All in all I really don't worry about it. It is only "stuff" and my insurance will replace the "stuff".
BTW, I love George Carlin's standup routine about "stuff".

We always let our neighbors on each side and across the street know when we're gone. They keep watch on our place and we keep watch on their place when they're gone. Take in their papers, mail, water the flowers in the summer, etc. It's just the neighborly thing to do. One winter a neighbor was in the Bahamas and we had a snow storm. I used the snowblower on their drive after I was done with mine just to give their place the usual occupied look. Nobody in our cul-de-sac ever had a problem.
