Hello all,
Have been looking around and have found some great info already! A couple of questions: (Sorry for my Newbieness in advance!) I just bought a stock f250 diesel with timberlins and bumper and bed tie downs. The previous owner said he had an 11' truck camper for about a year but then the truck became his grocery getter. I don't really want a huge camper, so I'm thinking 8-9' max. I will be towing a small trailer with a couple surf boards and motorcycles <2000 lbs. I live in Tahoe and will be doing some ski camping as well. Do I have to have a winterized unit? My budget is around $8000. (Am I crazy?) I'm looking for some suggestions on campers and would love to find some dealers between Reno area and SF bay area that would have some inventory so that I can get an idea of what is out there. Any help would be great!! Thank you and I can't wait to get a camper!!

There used to be a lot in Sac but still a few of the good name brands. However, for your budget I doubt you'll be buying from a dealer. I'm guessing you will be in the 5 year old to 10 year old range so more likely a private party sale.

I figured I would be buying used but just want to look at the relative sizes. Also wanted to check out some tie down systems. I can't find any dealers. Do you know of any? Thanks.

You could try Sprad's RV on South Virginia in Reno. I know that they are a Lance dealer. Good luck.

Pan Pacific
Arctic Fox makes a nice camper. This dealer is on El Camino Blvd. and part of RV row. There are at least a half dozen dealers within a couple miles of Pan Pacific. It is like strolling auto row with car dealerships.

Try SCATT recreation in Roseville, outside of Sacramento. Jason is the owner. Good guy. He has mostly new stuff but he has a good amount of campers in stock so you might be able to compare and see what you like.

There is a Palomino/Lance dealer in Acampo (Meeks I think?) and both Four Wheel Campers and All Terrain Campers are in the Sac 'burbs also. I haven't been to any of 'em yet. I have been to Scatt Recreation (Northstar and something big I forget what) and while they don't have a huge amount of inventory, I agree they are helpful folks. Plus you ought to look at the Northstars. Quite nice without being big.
