When is an ISL an ISL. is it the same block as uses the same filters as in oil and air filters. Mine is a 370hp the one i am considering is a 450. I assume it is but who wants to guess in this age. Reason for asking I have several filters bought at once for the 370 and dont want to let them go if they will also work on the ISL 450hp. Thanks Larry

The oil filter and the secondary fuel filter (on the side of the engine), are the only filters that are supplied by Cummins. The primary fuel, air, and coolant ifilters are chassis builder items and may or may not be the same.

A little more information please....I have NOT heard of a 450HP ISL, but have heard of a 450HP ISM. What year are you talking about and if a used coach, what model and year?

Which is the purpose of my question. 2011 model new. salesman states isl which i thought you could turn one up but when does it reach its limits. Spec for build shows CMNS 450 no model # I will know for sure this weekend but not until then as I will be looking at it. I got filters on sale thru NAPA and if can be used would be foolish to let them go. Just curious. Thanks American Revelution 2011 Larry

The ISL is now a 450HP, up from the 425HP which was the 400 ISL.

With the addition of the urea system on the 2010 EPA engines, Cummins is rating the ISL at 450 hp. This also required Allison to bump up their max rating on the 3000 series as that is right at the top of its range.

so I am getting more hp and tourque with less weight. The block is the same as far as oil filters. Air should last a while as it is new. I am picky on oil changes Thanks Larry

I'm sure the 4000 costs quite a bit more than the 3000 and there is higher maintenance cost as the 4000 holds 10 gals of Transynd at around $35/gal. The 4000 also weights almost double the 3000. If the 3000 will handle the hp & torque it's certainly the way to go.

I believe the torque stays the same, 1250 ft/pounds.
