Auto leveling systems are the wave of the future, there is nothing fun or rewarding to manually leveling a RV trailer. The future system will only get better.

As far as being stuck in my own ways, I purchased a 2011 RAM CUMMINS Dually with all that technology has to offer.

I also would not have a system that all the slides go out at once. I can isolate each hydraulic slide if there is a problem.

I am a A Journeyman Carpenter with 35 years experience so I know a bit about leveling objects.

Like I said 5 extra minutes and I am perfectly level. Remember I said I used a Hilti lazer to set my levels so there is another example of my willingness to use tcchnology when appropriate.

I will save the money for some other useful technology.

The wife's way to check for level in the previous 5th wheel was to drop a golf ball on the kitchen floor after we thought we were level and see which way it rolled. With the level up system she dropped it and it never moved.
I will admit I am , in my advancing years, lazy. If technology can do it faster and better I am there. I will also admit that the primary reason I wanted the new rig was because of the level up system.
However whatever works for theindividual is just fine.

Haha....used the golf ball for years, but bounced it on the kitchen counter!! Worked quite well actually.

What I like about Level Up is that if the auto level fails, I have either a manual remote or a manual corded control box to level with. Also, even though I have one switch inside to move my slides, on the hydraulic pump are isolating valves so I can move slides separately... Plenty of backups on these systems.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I don't think I would pay to add auto level to my unit, however my unit came standard with auto level feature and it's great.
In the end maybe it is only 5 minutes less set up time, which equals 5 minutes more beer time.
Anything that eliminates set up time is a great invention.
I understand you level with a nuclear powered Hilti radar controlled super level, but the real beauty of the auto level system is you don't need anything.
You don't need a K mart bubble level or a Hilti laser level or any construction experience at all. All you do is press a button and crack one open.
All the work has been eliminated, leveling no longer requires any skill, expertise, experience or tools. Except a bottle opener maybe if you prefer the good stuff!

Oh crap! I never thought about all that extra beer time!

Just to clairify I used the lazer level once to set the level vials on the rv.

With my system I can afford the micro brew!

Thanks for the laugh!

I note that the Lippert level up system is 4800.00 installed aftermarket. The system OEM was 3475.00 list and far less when one figures in the over all discounted price. It was part of the Montana Big Sky price along with 5 G614 Goodyears.

I am a high tech person..Love all that stuff.Set up is now a rbeeze compaired to before.

x2.

The fact that my camper has a remote tickles me beyond words. If nothing else, the speed of the hydraulics is worth having the leveling systems.

Now if it would only wash itself and run the built-in vacuum of its own accord.

I understand the enjoyment of the new toys. Many RV purchasers are enticed by the sizzle, bells and whistles and that is why RV manufacturers focus on these items rather than building a higher quality unit.

I don't understand the reluctance to embrace new technology in our 5th wheels. All of the new gizmos talked about in this thread have been in motorhomes for years !! Just as I couldn't get my Wife to do without the microwave (which has a computer chip in it), I will not do without my Level Up !!

AMEN!!! These are NOT bells and whistles, especially to those of us who fulltime...as for building higher quality, some are and some aren't...just need to look really close when making a decision.
