Hi all,
I just opened my box with new air bags, etc. Note on instructions about fifth wheel needing different brackets (wish Amazon had mentioned this).
Soo, has anybody modified theirs or do we need to wait for more parts?
I am talking about the upper bracket.
01 F250 Reese fifth wheel hitch. Air Lift brand, #57215.
Otherwise looks like a great kit.
Thanks.
Tom.

Hello Tom: I think you should contact "Airlift" customer service at 1 800 248 0892 and discuss your concern, and take all the guess work out of the picture. They are great people to deal with............Later Bruce

I installed the exact same set-up. I used the "non 5th wheel" brackets. It just took a little tuning to make them work. I actually preferred them. I have since moved them to my new (2008) Ford with a Pullrite Super Fifth under bed hitch.

My truck is a 2001 F250 short bed ext cab.
I had a Reese 16K Square Tube Slider on std rails.
My airbags are Airlift using the 57215 kit.
This was my installation process about 8 years ago. Gotta make some assumptions here.
Assumption 1: If you are referring to the same setup, no special bracket is required. I did have to move the rear rail bracket as there was interference.
Assumption 2: If your hitch has brackets where they are attached with a common plate that runs the distance from bracket to bracket (looks like this:

you may need to drill both the hitch bracket and truck frame to mount. Dont worry - it should only shift the top bracket about 3/8" and some is adjustable in the mounting of the bags.

I just bought a kit for my SD250. They are the under rail type for fifth wheel. I have the side frame brackets for my SuperGlide hitch. I got them from Advance Auto last weekend (thay had a one day 30% off sale). Air Lift Load Lifter 5000 #57390.
Fairly easy to install.

talon head, can you post a picture of the upper bracket? That is the kit number Airlift told me I need. Is your hitch bracket, under the bed attached to the frame, one piece or two individual pieces of angle?
Thanks.

Tom.
If you have the custom fifth wheel brackets then you need the kit that mounts to the inside of the springs instead of on top of them, I have no knowledge if you have the two individual pieces of angle, but would think the kit that mounts to the inside of the springs would not get in the way of whichever fifth wheel mounting brackets you have. I have the custom fifth wheel brackets, and the kit that mounts to the inside of the springs, there is NO DRILLING. I will get on airlift's web site ,and post what kit you need, I have forgotten which # it is . I too have the same truck.
