Hello all.

Camping at Ft. Wilderness for the first time, for Easter break. How bad can we expect the mosquitoes and other biting nasties to be second week of April? We're debating whether to take the Walmart gazebo/screen room. Are they even allowed (on a premium site)? I forgot to ask when I made the reservation. Thanks.

Can't I retire now please??

We were there during Easter break last spring. Never saw a mosquito, but saw a couple monsterous cockroaches. Have a great trip.

Mosquitoes are not allowed at the Fort. You can normally put up a small screen room without a problem. Disney has figured out how to keep the bugs under control at the Campground. The big bugs that look like roaches are called Palmetto Bugs, here in Florida. They just look like a roach on steroids. LOL
We go up to the Fort, 6 to 8 times a year, and I might see 3 or 4 mosquitoes in a year of visits.

We were at Disney a few years ago and never saw a mosquito or anything. Disney has it figured out for sure. WE did see a lot of lizards, which might help in keeping thm down..

Stayed there the last three years in March or April. Mosquitoes have never been a problem and don’t even recall seeing any. We too saw a lot of lizards. Will be heading down soon as well. Enjoy!

We were at Disney in April last year and the mosquitos were out. I couldn't ever remember mosquitos in Disney before this trip. We were also in Disney in November and they were out too, but not nearly as bad. Disney does a pretty good job controlling the bugs, but in a place as large as Fort Wilderness it's easy to miss a few. In April, the mosquitos were really bad at Wilderness Lodge.

Disney is probably one of the most heavily sprayed places in the U.S.A....I think it's a twice a day thing in the season.

Here's one service that says they serve the park(s)Haggerty services says:
Quote:

Disney World and Universal of Orlando have placed their trust in XMosquito Systems, and you can too!!

A truly innovative system that can be set to automatically activate at dawn and dusk (highest mosquito activity levels) and/or can be activated by remote control or manually.

Don't get genuine Disney mosquitos; they charge extra for those.
