Well we are in the final stretch, in about 32 days we are on our first trip with the new HHT, we upgraded from a PU. I am very lucky in that our first 4 trips are with my parents who have been full-timers for over 30 years. Part of those years I was with them but as a teenager you don't pay attention to the little details. For DH this is a first time ever dealing with a "trailer". We have a fun trip set up at a KOA in Chattanooga that we have been to before with the PU.

I have already done the driveway camping and I believe we (or at least I) am ready. DH is a little nervous; he has not pulled it yet. I was the one to go pick it up in at RVWholesalers. No problem with towing, didn't even feel the truckers passing me. The Equalizer WDH is awesome. I will try and take some pictures to post. We plan on hitting the Aquarium/Discover Museum, Ruby Falls, Rock City, Lookout Mtn. You know the tourist thing. This will also be our puppy’s first camping trip. She is crate trained so when we go out she should have no problems; I even bought a collapsible crate just for the HHT. With the air on it will be just like at home.

I bet that 32 days will seem to take forever
Have you guys done many trips to Chattanooga? It is on our list to squeeze in this summer but have not seen any of the parks down there.

Have a great time! Other than watching the length and slope on turns/entryways I think towing the HTT is pretty smooth with the right set up(TV, WDH etc). We did not have a WDH with the pup and did feel the trucks much more. Take 'er easy as you go and I am sure he will get it down pretty quick.
Enjoy that first outing, it is kinda a big deal!!

Lifetimer, seems like you've had your 23SS a lot longer.
i can't imagine having to wait as long as you have, to go camping in a new HTT.
i had also only towed popups before we bought our HTT. we went
right to the freeway, after picking it up and got used to how it felt on the way home(2000 miles).
once the initial fear left, i got real comfortable fast. having an more than adequate tow vehicle, like you and we have, makes all the difference. along with a good WDH.

I live only 90 miles away from Chattanooga and love it there. The KOA West is great. Has stuff to do for the kids and furbaby and is a great start place for doing the tourist thing. Its actually located in Trenton, GA. The other good place to stay (has fantastic reviews) is the Holiday Travel Park http://www.chattacamp.com/. I don't go there only becuase they don't have as much for the kids and my camping is based around DD right now. There are all kinds of state parks around that area I just prefere private campgrounds with full hook ups for now.

Believe it or not I got it mid October 2011. And yes it has been killing me! I am the main camper in this family DH joins once in awhile since he works weekends. That why DD and I have done some driveway camping!

Harrison Bay State Park is 1st on our list for Chatty trips. Problem is we have to find time to make it down there.
Luckily at this point our DD is 6 months old so she is not real picky where we camp But, I'm sure that will change sooner than later as others that camp in our group have anywhere from 16 months old to 5 years old.

Dont rule out the Cloudland Canyon State Park on I59 just before you get to the Alabama Line at the Trenton, GA exit.

This is a great camp site. Camp in the West RIM side of the canyon. The camp sites all have a wooden rail around the picnic table area. This is up on the Lookout Mtn.

Maybe you have been there before in your POPUP... A must see place when the leaves change colors in the fall...
