There sure are a lot of experienced people that do NOT like them or have removed them and thrown them in the garbage.
The biggest complaint is what others have said, back up of sludge in the black tank.
Great...so now I am back to my dilemma of getting sewage to my clean out 75' away.
Do you have a water faucet or can you get a real water hose to it?
Yes= Get a good tank rinse system and use it
No= Then you have a problem
Yes on the hose.
Does the hookup for the hose to the black tank count?

No problem! You just dump with the macerator and when finished, put several inches of water into the tank. Then put in some of the bacteria that is made to be added to septic tanks. Your nearest hardware store should have it. That will provide the bacteria to eat up any materal left in the tank and will elimate any sludge buildup.
Don't make it a bigger issue than it is.

When it's a long way to the sewer.. Or Uphill, or some other "issue" I use the pump and haul away.
I used to have a friend who spoke of the law of requisite choice.

Though, in this case, I don't think there is a fatal choice.. Still. I believe choice is good. Thus, use one when you have to. Use 3" when you can. Best of both worlds.
