Took my MH in for a repair and the Serv Writer sat down to write up the service ticket in the drivers seat. He needed to get the mileage for his serv ticket so he hit the rocker switch that on a Freightliner chassis goes from total miles odometer to trip odometer. You can also hold the rocker and switch from Kilometers to Miles.
Somehow he managed to lose my total miles and trip miles completely. Its as if its a brand new odometer now and it started again from zero.
I have the Silverleaf computer program running and that hasn't changed. I still have total miles driven and trip miles accurately from the actual driven miles as it should.
I've tried to mess with the rocker to get it back to actual and all I can do is zero the trip miles and the odometer miles stay current from the time the Serv Writer messed it up.
Looking for a solution????

What did the service writer have to say? Looks like if he made it inoperative, he(his service dept) should be the one to fix it. Other than that, I guess a call to Freightliner is in order.
Would you let us know how this is resolved/repaired. I am going to be nervous now when I delete trip miles back to zero.

Going further, When he pushed the rocker switch to change it to odometer instead of trip he just made the comment "OK, looks like you have a new motorhome now" and chuckled. I didn't know what he meant by that until I was on our way out of town. This was in Yuma and we're now in Palm Springs.

Something else must be in play here. I wouldn't think that a simple push of a switch could zero out an odometer. Since it is illegal in all 50 states to modify the odometer mileage on any vehicle you would think the manufacturer would ensure just pushing a swtich would not accomplish that.

Is it possible that you have and A and B trip odometer and that is what you are looking at? This all seems a bit strange.

1. There is NOTHING anyone can do at the Tripodometer button to cause a loss of total mileage
2. IF that was possible, then there would be thousands of Freightliner motorhomes out there that had less than 1000 miles when sold used. Everyone would just reset when they sell.
3. Are you POSITIVE it is not showing Tripodometer mileage and not the actual mileage.
4. The Service Center is NOT responsible for pushing a commonly used button and then there is a malfunction as there is NO WAY to alter the program from that button. Doug

The actual mileage should still be stored in the computer unless the chip was changed. He should have the ability to bring it back up.

You might have to hold the thing for a couple/few seconds to get it back. Like Army said, there is no way it can be that easy to reset the odometer else everybody would be doing it. There should be something in the manual about how to toggle the displays.

You probably have multiple trip meters and that is what you are seeing. Just get the maual and read. You will find the answer
