One of the "resorts" was in Spring Tx and the other in The Woodlands on Rayford Road. We are visiting family in the area. We prefer the govmt. parks but there are none nearby. We like the convenience of the pick-up camper for traveling as snow birds from the northeast to the southwest every year.

Would that have been Trinity Oaks (springoaksrvpark.com)? They only advertise that no tents are allowed. Or Raeford Crossigs, they too only exclude tents and both are in Spring Tx.

The only Woodlands that I find is on Firehouse Rd, in Conroe.

I did find Rayford Crossings on S. Plum Creek, right off Rayford Rd, down in the Woodlands, who exclude tents.

I did not find anyone that excluded Truck Campers.

If we get the right culprits, maybe some communications with Woodalls to let them know that these listings are incorrect might shake these arrogant a55holes up.

It seems pretty petty that someone looking for a place to get a nights rest at an RV facility can't come in for safety. I wonder if a discrimination lawsuit might wake up some of these people who only want multimillion dollar rigs. It also seems like a violation of the inn keepers act in most states, for discrimination ... of sorts.

It is just not right, I tell ya ... it just ain't right.

Rayford does not allow TC's.. We fixed their wagon last year.. We went down and stayed at Rayford with a Toy hauler with 12 people in it to attend a wedding... It was great. When we pulled in most of the snobs in there Big class A's went in and locked the doors..

And after we spent all our dough on this:

My husband Blillyjoejimbobdarleen went straight to the office and gave 'em what for!

What's the problem? Looks like a perfectly fine example of a "motor coach" to me.

Tell them you are a Class C when you make your reservation. Once inside the campground and set up, they have never told me to leave, and are usually impressed by my rig.

OP...better learn how to boondock. It may be a trend.

For me, I've never stayed in a RV park. I stayed a few nights at Ginnie Springs campground in FL, but other than that have always boondocked. Once in a great while I get kicked out, (Like at a Lowes in FL) If so, I just move down the road and set up house someplace else.

If your in Key West, boondocking is tough. But otherwise, you can overnight at Walmart's, Cracker Barrel restaurants, motel parking lots, rest stops, churches, casinos, shopping centers, ski resorts, RV dealers, trucks stops, etc.

The NY toll road is a great place for boondocking. I stay there when coming back and forth from VT for skiing.

I like the motels best for quiet. Just make sure they are far from the fwy noise. Even the rest stops that say 'no overnight parking' in FL and have guards are not a big deal. Just ask the guard if it is OK to get some sleep for a few hours.

I have never been refused. They don't care if you sleep there all night. Only problem I had was a guard told me in Fla 'no deploying', as in 'no push out rooms' or in my case 'no popping up' my little folding Aliner. Now that I got a TC with no slide out room, it does not apply to me.

We had a boondocker on another forum that used to put a 'for sale' sign in the window when he parked it on the street. He was a 'long term' (homeless) boondocker in L.A.

One boondocker I came across in NC had big balls. He was parked at a Walmart and had a tent pop up camper all deployed and had a giant sea kayak on his little car roof. Can you imaging a tent camper with all the extensions out, all the lights on in his screened 'see through' rooms at a Walmart parking lot....BIG BALLS!

If your out west, you can even be a classic, wilderness style boondocker like Whazoo. As opposed to us east coast 'urban boondockers'. Out east we only dream about what 'real' boondocking is like out west.

Cal-Am resorts in the Phoenix area do not allow truck campers so we ended up in a much nicer resort.

Thanks Cal-Am

The concern with "no offloading" or "no TCs" is dealing with abandoned units.

YES, it is that much of a problem. Why should a campground keep a dedicated pickup truck around just in case someone abandons a TC? Why should they have to hire a rollback to haul the camper away?

With wheeled RVs, an old tractor, backhoe, or wheel loader is all that's necessary. Just wrap a chain, lift, and drag the unit off to the graveyard.

You can't do that with a TC, especially the typical clapped-out TC that people abandon. Wrap a chain around it, and it will disintegrate.

Are you saying it is cheaper to buy a loader and maintain a loader than to call someone with a pickup? How far are you going to drive down the road with a camper chained to a loader before the police stop you to see what you are doing?

I would think it would be more expensive, and more difficult, to move a 5th wheel.

Any full size truck can move a truck camper with no special equipment. Move a 5th wheel, you need a hitch.

I don't buy the argument of "YES, it is that much of a problem. Why should a campground keep a dedicated pickup truck around just in case someone abandons a TC?"

What campground doesn't have a truck around? If they have a loader, backhoe, or tractor, I would bet the farm they have a truck somewhere. That's a lame excuse.
