Just looked at a Dometic 3000W portable inverter generator....about half the weight of the Yamaha 3000....and less than Hal the price. It's within 1db of the Yamaha for noise as well. Any users out there with feedback on these? Thanks

Looks like the model numbers have become meaningless marketing drivel. Model number LW3000, 2800 watts maximum output, and they probably really mean 2800 VA.

Sorry but after hearing of a few of my friends getting ripped of by the cheapos, I have to say its worth spending more to get either a Honda or a Yamaha. There is a reason that these are two of the most popular units used in RVing. They are not cheap, but that is my point exactly. You get what you pay for. The cheapos may be half the price of this and half the weight of that, but in the end you need to have ready access to parts and a network of dealers who can service them. The only other one I would recommend would be Champion. Costco sells these and of course Costco will stand behind it if you are not satisfied. Right?
Buying a decent generator is not for resale value, rather knowing its going to work when you need it. In over 14 years neither my Honda or my Yamaha has let me down.

Agreed....dealer has told me they have sold quite a few...people love em cause they are light and cheap. They are having some isuses with the few they have left..guess there was a bad batch of batteries in the ones they have left. Only curious. I think its Yamaha 3000 for me!

There's no way they can get all the power of the Yami or Honda with half the weight.

You would be much better off to make a bet on two Champion 2000 from Costco than buying the Dometic 3000.
Two Champion 2000 from Costco will cost you 2 X $500 + $95 (parallel kit) + tax. That should be about $1,200. Costco is backing you for your purchase should you have a problem, or be dissatisfied with your purchase. Try returning ANY other generators bought from anywhere else and you might have the unpleasant surprise that you bought it, so now you own it! IOW, it's your problem, not their.
Two Champion will provide you 25 amps (3000W) and you can decide to only run one when that's all you need. As thrifty on gasoline as a Honda eu2000. And noise wise is not too far from the eu2000. And Champion offers outstanding after-sales service. Wish I could same the same about Honda.
A single Honda eu2000 would cost you $1,400 + tax. So you can get two Champion for much less than a single Honda. Yamaha are about the same than Honda. So you do not win by going with the blue one.
