Mine was posted back the next day. We crossed late in the afternoon and the money was back by the next afternoon.

So I guess we can trust the system-- what a concept-- this wonderful country is demonstating that if we respect their laws - they will respect us. I am with the Mexican authorities who are trying to protect Mexican economics.

One question...I got my TIP for my Class A, no toad, in '06. My VISA card number has been changed a couple times since then. When I turn in the sticker at the border, are they going to ask for my current VISA card? Or do I offer it and try to explain it's different now? (Sadly, I haven't pick up much Spanish yet).

JIm: You do not need a credit card as there is no refund of your TIP. If you are crossing @ Nogales simply pull into the lane that is marked for cancelling permits. They will scrape of your sticker, take your permit papers and although it is has been years I am sure they give you a receipt. Do not lose that receipt. Very easy.

Yeah, moisheh, I can't remember them charging my VISA back then but with all the talk about a 'deposit' and not being clear on what it was for, I thought I'd ask. My bank on-line does not have records going back that far.
So my TIP didn't require a deposit? Good. But why do I need to 'not lose that receipt'? For crossing the border into the US, or for when I return to Mexico with a newer RV next year?
I am planning on returning to the US at the truck crossing west of Nogales.
Sorry about the dumb questions, but it's been years since I looked into this...

Jim: You want to hang on to that receipt in case they do not enter the cancelation into the computer. If you return to Mexico they could claim you never turned in your sticker at which point you will exclaim " AHA!" I have my receipt! But a question: Why are you turning in your TIP? Is it not valid for 10 years?

Yes, it is, but I'm planning to buy a 'newer' RV later this year so I guess I'm suppose to turn it in.
